Requalification of the accesses to Leiria’s Castle with white concrete from Lenobetão

News date: 26 February 2021

The historical center of Leiria has gained a new life. The work of the lifts of access to Leiria's Castle was recently finished.

Lenobetão, a company from Grupo NOV indústria, which is dedicated to the manufacture and supply of ready-made concrete in the construction area, has participated in this contract works of “execution of two mechanical Accesses to Leiria’s Castle”, where 300 m3 of white concrete were supplied in a value of more than 40 thousand euros.

The company has been investing heavily in requalification works which have been relevant in developing the economic sustainability of construction at a national level. To this end, it has sought to remain at the forefront of several innovative products, one such example being white concrete.

The works were awarded by Liftech, S.A. to Lenobetão and began in mid-october of 2019. They were completed last November of 2020.

These works have several benefits and are of special relevance for the city of Leiria. Among these, we highlight the promotion of an increase in tourist visits to the castle, the increase in visitor mobility, the reduction in traffic and the consequent reduction in CO2 emissions in the area around the castle.

One of the new accesses to Leiria's Castle was installed at the North side of the Castle since Avenida 25 de abril and another one at the South side near Leiria's Cathedral.

These accesses are complementary. In the first case, the lift will circulate in rail passing over the Rua Christiano Cruz.  Two lifts have been installed on the South side and the access to one of them is next to the Cathedral, with an entrance and exit on Rua Cónego Sebastião da Costa Brites and the other next to the Torre Sineira.
