Remodeling of the Municipal Library of Estremoz | NOV Group

The contract for Rehabilitation of the Luis Campos Building and adaptation to the Municipal Library was completed by Grupo NOV Engenharia e Construções last march.

The work consisted of the recovery and rehabilitation of a building, built in the Baroque period, known as “Edifício Luís Campos”, with the purpose of being adapted for a Library. The adaptation of this building as a Library provided it with four floors, with a total gross construction area of 1,370 m2.

One of the requirements was the maintenance of the main façade and the provision of accessibility conditions for people with reduced mobility, to all floors of the building.

The basement floor is occupied by workspaces, storage and access to the Auditorium, which serves as an emergency exit.

On the 0th floor, there is an atrium, a room for reading periodicals (newspapers, magazines, etc.), sanitary facilities for the public, spaces for the exclusive use of employees (pantry, locker area and toilet) and the Auditorium. On this floor there is also a patio and patio.

On the 1st floor, there is a reading room, a children's room, an administrative space and a nucleus of sanitary facilities for the public.

On the 2nd floor is the Old Book Room and access to the roof and technical area.
