BIOSMART concludes works for the Águas Públicas do Alentejo (Alentejo Public Waters) | NOV Group

The AgdA – Águas Públicas do Alentejo, S. A., in 2022, awarded BioSmart, a company of Grupo NOV Ambiente & Energia, two services aimed at improving wastewater treatment in several WWTP in the region.

The first contract awarded was entitled “Sludge Removal from Ponds at the WWTP of Almograve, Campo Redondo, Mina de São Domingos and Rio de Moinhos”.

Work on these four ETAR took place in stages and with two different methods. Through a rotary, 1,181 m3 of sludge were removed from the ponds, which were sent for composting after solar drying. Using a mobile dewatering unit, 3,662 m3 were extracted from the bottom of the ponds, resulting in 520 m3 of dehydrated sludge, which was automatically containerized and also sent for composting.

The second contract was called “Acquisition of Services for the Implementation of a Drain and Waterproofing of the Facultative Lagoon of the WWTP of São Pedro da Gafanhoeira”.

Here, the work contracted included waste management services, such as the removal of sludge and existing waterproofing screens, specialized work to improve the lagoon, such as running a drain and new waterproofing of the lagoon through the application of clay, geotextile and a new geomembrane in PEAD. The waste was sent to the BioSmart Unit in Beja.

BioSmart has sought to remain at the forefront of the environment. In addition to concern for customer satisfaction, it has sought to invest in innovation, new products and services, as well as expanding its area of operation.

Grupo NOV Ambiente & Energia also includes the company Bioenergias, which is dedicated to the management of agricultural, livestock and industrial waste, as well as the production of agricultural fertilizers, and Treciver, which is a company dedicated to the transport, packaging and management of waste.
