Repair of submersible pumps of Rabagão’s ETA intake

Under the contract for the provision of repair and maintenance services for electromechanical equipment for Águas do Norte, Biosmart repaired the KSB Submersible Pumps in the intake of Rabagão’s ETA.
This intake, in the middle of the reservoir of the Rabagão Dam, is provided with Pumping Groups which, in case of need for maintenance, are raised through a gantry existing on site.
Still supported by the gantry, the submersible pumps (about 1 ton each) are placed on a vessel that travels to the shore, in a place that allows them to be lifted directly onto a transport vehicle.
It will be in this vehicle that the Pumping Groups are transported to the maintenance site.
In the workshop, the pumps were disassembled, components were cleaned, new sets of replacement parts were assembled and tests were carried out.
After the workshop work, they were assembled in the original location, using the same disassembly procedure.
This process took place autonomously for each of the pumps, so that the pumping service was not discontinued.
In addition to the BioSmart team, 2 duly accredited divers belonging to the local Fire Department were also necessary for the correct completion of this procedure.
